Real Madrid has received interest from Juventus for Álvaro Carreras, a 23-year-old Spanish left-back, in this final stretch of the transfer market. The Italian club has inquired about his situation as they look to reinforce the left side before the closing of the Real Madrid transfer market.
Carreras' situation has changed after Madrid signed Marc Cucurella this summer for around €55 million. The former Benfica player faces increased competition in his second season at the Santiago Bernabéu but is using the preseason to gain ground in José Mourinho's plans.
Juventus Inquires about Álvaro Carreras from Real Madrid
Juventus considers Carreras as one of the alternatives to strengthen the left-back position. The Italian club is evaluating various profiles for that role, and the Madrid player is being considered alongside Rayan Aït-Nouri, currently at Manchester City, as potential options.
Real Madrid invested €50 million to bring back Álvaro Carreras from Benfica in the summer of 2025. The left-back then signed a six-season contract, keeping him with the club until June 30, 2031.
Carreras had significant participation at the start of his first season in Madrid, although he experienced a reduction in playing time in certain matches towards the end. By late March, he had already played in 34 official matches across LaLiga, the Champions League, Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.
Real Madrid's Transfer Market Increases Competition
Real Madrid's transfer market has particularly altered the left-back situation. Cucurella's arrival has added another player to a position previously occupied by Ferland Mendy and Fran García, creating several pending decisions within the squad.
However, Carreras is striving to change the hierarchy during the preseason. He has been a starter in the initial preparation matches under Mourinho and played the full game against Fiorentina, where he also provided the assist for the first goal to Endrick.
This performance allows the Portuguese coach to have a direct alternative to Cucurella just before LaLiga begins. The Spanish international joined the preparation later after the World Cup, allowing Carreras to accumulate minutes during the initial weeks of training.
Juventus' interest now introduces a new factor. The Turin club seeks to increase its options for the left flank and is exploring ways to acquire a top-level player from another club without necessarily making a large initial investment.
The next move will depend on how far Juventus is willing to go and on Real Madrid's assessment of their squad before the market closes. Álvaro Carreras is under contract until 2031, but Cucurella's arrival and the interest from Italy place his name among the topics to follow in the last weeks of summer.
