**Sunderland** is interested in signing **Alejandro Balde**, a player discarded by Hansi Flick at **FC Barcelona**, for the upcoming winter transfer market. The intention is for him to arrive on loan in order to gain continuity.

As revealed by TEAMtalk on **October 5, 2026**, the Catalan management has allowed the player to negotiate a mid-season team change after his reduced role in Hansi Flick's tactical plans.

**Alejandro Balde's Decreased Playing Time at FC Barcelona and Offers from the Premier League**

The **22-year-old** full-back joined **FC Barcelona**'s first team in **July 2022** and has a contract valid until **June 2028**. Despite being valued at **€50.00 million** by Transfermarkt and having **7 caps** for Spain, he has lost ground in the left-back rotation.

Alongside talks with **Sunderland**, the player's agents have reached out to Everton and Fulham, also offering the option of a loan to Manchester United and Liverpool.

**Sunderland's Strategy to Accommodate the Full-Back's Salary in January**

The management of **Sunderland** is reviewing the wage structure to take on the Spanish player's loan without breaching the club's financial limits. The full-back has expressed readiness to move to English football during the **2026-2027** season's second half, with the possibility of a non-obligatory purchase clause yet to be defined.

The sports directors believe that the addition of the Spanish international will bring dynamism to the left flank to tackle the winter schedule commitments. **Alejandro Balde**'s representatives will hold formal discussions with **Sunderland**'s board during the November **2026** international break.

Should **Sunderland** agree to cover the Spanish left-back's salary, **FC Barcelona** will finalize the loan documentation before the start of the winter transfer market.
