Julián Álvarez, a 26-year-old Argentine forward, ended his goal drought with Atlético de Madrid by scoring the 1-1 against Stuttgart on October 20th, in the Champions League. The goal, which came at the start of the second half after 174 days without scoring with the red and white team, garnered public support from Cholo Simeone and Alejandro Grimaldo, following a summer marked by his failed transfer to Barcelona.

The goal came 46 seconds into the second half, after a combination between Pablo Barrios and Ademola Lookman. The Argentine shot with his left foot from the area and beat the Stuttgart goalkeeper to equalize a match that Atlético was losing due to Jamie Leweling's goal in the 35th minute.
The goal had added significance: it marked Álvarez's 50th goal for Atlético and ended a scoring drought that had lasted since April 29th. The forward had been creating chances in several games but had not been able to convert that work into goals.
The coach's reaction is important given the context of the last few months. Álvarez had made statements about his future during the summer amid interest from Barcelona, but Atlético held its ground and did not facilitate his departure. The player's release clause is set at 500 million euros, as reported during that situation.
