Arsenal is willing to listen to offers to sell Viktor Gyökeres in the upcoming transfer windows as the player is not comfortable with his current situation at the beginning of this season.

Sources close to the London club revealed on October 8, 2026 that the Gunners' board has started to doubt the continuity of the forward in Mikel Arteta's project, aiming to recoup a sum close to £64 million invested in his signing from Sporting de Portugal.

Viktor Gyökeres Losing Starting Position to Kai Havertz

The 28-year-old Swedish striker has started as a first-choice player only 2 times in the current season, surrendering his offensive role in Mikel Arteta's tactical scheme to Kai Havertz. Lack of continuous appearances in the starting lineup has decreased the player's productivity, placing him in a secondary role that does not meet the initial expectations of the sports management.

Despite scoring 21 goals in the previous campaign with the London club, his fit in the ball circulation has weakened in the recent weeks of competition.

Arsenal's Board Position to Recoup Investment

The Arsenal board does not consider facilitating a discounted exit in the market. The club's leadership will require offers approaching £64 million to authorize the departure of the Nordic international to another European destination.

Various market intermediaries have started to explore options in Serie A and the Bundesliga to accommodate the forward in the upcoming summer transfer window of 2027. Arsenal's executives will closely monitor Viktor Gyökeres' performance during November and December of 2026.

If the Swedish forward fails to reverse his situation and claim the starting position back from Kai Havertz by the end of the season, Arsenal will formally authorize his agents to negotiate his transfer at the beginning of the summer market.
