The environment of Antonio Conte has contacted the board of Manchester United to confirm his willingness to be the next coach of the Red Devil team if Michael Carrick's departure is confirmed.

As revealed by TEAMtalk, the Italian strategist—currently without a team after his time at Napoli—has expressed his availability due to the increasing pressure on Michael Carrick, who is 45 years old and whose team has suffered 4 defeats in the first 9 matches of the season.

Antonio Conte's offer and his history with Jason Wilcox

The 57-year-old coach had already made contact in the summer through his agents with Manchester United's sporting director, Jason Wilcox, before the board confirmed Michael Carrick after qualifying the club for the Champions League. Having won the Serie A and achieved a runner-up position in his two seasons in Italy, the Italian coach aims to return to the Premier League where he won a league title and an FA Cup with Chelsea before managing Tottenham Hotspur until March 2023 with over 50% win rate.

The coach's circle reiterates to Manchester's leadership that he is capable of turning around the team's sporting dynamics.

Michael Carrick's situation prior to the match against Leeds United

The Manchester United squad has only achieved 2 victories in the 9 official matches played in the 2026-2027 season, drawing attention before their visit to Leeds United this Sunday. Although the club's board publicly supports the 45-year-old coach, an immediate change of direction is demanded within the organization due to concerns expressed by the team and recent protests by Lisandro Martínez.

Alongside the Italian's offer, the sports management is considering alternatives such as Eddie Howe and Julian Nagelsmann if there is no collective improvement in the near term.

Manchester United's executives will assess the team's performance at Elland Road before making decisions regarding the continuity of the coaching staff.

If Manchester United experiences another setback in the Premier League next week, the Red Devil's board will begin formal negotiations to finalize Antonio Conte's arrival.
